ROBE is Australia's only Certified Non GM Canola Oil manufacturing plant, strategically located in the agricultural hub of the Riverina, Australia.
It is also among the best in the world with low emissions records rated CATEGORY A by E.P.A. in terms of Environmental Compliance. Applying Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) interlocked with process, ROBE operates at 5 ppm emission of H2S in comparison to the >50 ppm in similar industries.
ROBE boasts a state-of-the-art water and waste-water treatment system with a metred network and check points to control water consumption. ROBE is designed to operate with zero liquid discharge. Approximately 30,000 cubic metres of the water is recycled (60.39% recycled) back into water utilities. Waste segregation at the source is in place with a high-tech microbial sludge treatment system, resulting in a reduction of almost 50% in sludge generation.
Energy wastage is minimised and approximately 30% of the heat energy is recycled within the processes. Heat of vapour from one part of the operation is utilised to heat up oil /vapour of other operation instead of cooling it down, substantially reducing power and heat consumption resulting in a low carbon footprint. CO2 emission is approximate 133.0kg/tonne seed crushed which is better than global emission standards.
Our Environmental Policy
ROBE is committed to continuous improvement of its environment performance and the prevention of pollution.
As part of our commitment to achieving the principles of responsible environmental management, sustainability and protection of the natural environment in our workplace, we recognise our moral and legal responsibility to ensure that our activities, products and services are designed to protect and enhance the environment in the community in which we operate, and our obligations to ensuring that our operations do not place the natural environment or the local community at risk or harm.
Pollution Incident Response Management Plan
The Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011 (POELA Act) includes a requirement that holders of the Environment Protection Licenses prepare and implement a Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP).
Extracts of the ROBE PIRMP are presented in the attached document.
Environmental Monitoring Data
Section 66 (6) of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 )POEO Act) requires that holders of the Environment Protection Licenses make their emission monitoring data publicly available.
The ROBE Environment Protection License requires ROBE to undertake air emissions testing.
